Activity 3: Web Case Study
Students will learn about the similarities and differences of living with HIV/AIDS in Canada compared to youth in various African countries.
Process
1. Ask students to read real life stories of the following youth/children living or affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa:The above stories are from: UNICEF AIDS Youth Site
2. Also ask students to read real life stories about people living or affected by HIV/AIDS in Canada from the following Web sites:3. In teams, choose two life stories from Africa and Canada.
4. Discuss what are the similarities and differences in these life situations:
5. Each team will submit a written report on the similarities and differences.
- How did they get HIV?
- What is their life situation?
- How did getting HIV affect their lives?
- Did they tell anyone about their condition?
- Are they getting treatment?
- What did they do to help themselves?
Extension
Ask students to present their case study to the class.
Curriculum Connections for Activity 3: Web Case Study
